Action for Agricultural Renewal in Maharashtra

50 Years of Advancement in Rural Development

Introduction

In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of project interventions and the impact on the project community, AFARM has strategically mobilized the project communities to form their own institutions to ensure their ownership in project process.

Purpose

The projects being undertaken by AFARM are primarily meant for the rural poor households whose livelihoods are primarily dependent on Land, Water, Forest and Livestock. In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of project interventions and the impact on the project community,AFARM has strategically mobilized the project communities through adoption of the participatory processes and empowering these to develop vibrant Community Institutions.

The Community Institutions are oriented from beginning of the project to take up the responsibility on their own and manage the evolved project processes when AFARM starts withdrawing from project implementation.

AFARM has always provided handholding support to these Community Institutions for their sustainability and linking them with various resource organisations including Government Line Agencies, Financial Institutions, KrushiVidyanKendras and Private Service Providers etc.
